The problem
Sample tracking ran on paper registers plus Excel sheets kept by the front desk. Internal audits kept finding mismatches between intake records and test results. With ISO 15189 accreditation on the table, the manual setup had gone from inconvenient to genuinely risky.
What we built
A custom web-based Lab Information Management System (LIMS). Samples get a barcode at intake and are tracked stage by stage through collection and testing. Reports are generated as PDFs automatically, and every change to every record is written to an audit log. An admin dashboard tracks daily turnaround.

Zero audit failures across two back-to-back internal audit cycles after go-live. Sample-to-report turnaround dropped by roughly 55%. The front desk team called it 'the first system that matches how the lab actually works'.
Common questions
Is the LIMS suitable for NABL or ISO 15189 accreditation?
The default audit trail records every sample state change, who made it and when. It's designed to meet ISO 15189 technical requirements 5.8 (result reporting) and 5.9 (quality assurance), and clients have gone through NABL accreditation on this system. It's still worth walking through the specific checklist during scoping so nothing gets missed.
Can the LIMS connect to lab analysers and report directly from equipment?
Yes, if the equipment supports an HL7 or ASTM LIS interface, and most modern analysers do. We build middleware that takes the result from the analyser and attaches it to the right sample record, so nobody has to type results in by hand.
